Drymen
The Brief
The brief here was to design the largest possible house for the client's budget within The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.
The Challenge
The challenge on this project was primarily one of budget. We had to keep well within budget, yet achieve a building that would fit into the village-scape and in both its scale and style. It was decided that it was economic to build a two and half storey, rectangular plan house. The style was based on the local vernacular architecture, and particularly that of neighbouring houses on the Montrose Estate and at the neighbouring village of Milton of Buchanan. The house is light and airy and functions well as a family home.
What the client's say
“Having lived here for five years there has been plenty of time to reflect about what we did. In short Thomas Robinson Architects designed us a house that fits our lifestyle perfectly. It is airy, light and the spaces flow. It is cheap to run. The architectural concept was determined by our budget. We got a spacious, simple, elegantly proportioned house that we love".Back to Projects
