The Brief

Tom Robinson of Thomas Robinson Architects was the Project Architect whilst in the office of James Cuthbertson Architects. The brief was to rebuild and re-instate the Castle to its original form following fire damage.  

The Challenge

After a fire in 1994 after which substantial portions of the Grade A listed castle were destroyed the challenge was to establish from archive material and photographs what the castle had looked like and how the rooms had been arranged. The rebuilding was to the highest standard using traditional crafts alongside modern technology.
