The Brief

The brief was to extend the existing Grade C Listed Stone Lodge house building to almost double its size and to minimize its impact in the landscape. 

The Challenge

The challenge here was to extend this little lodge  building sympathetically. The solution was to use all the existing stone details and to locate the extension on the private side of the site in order to minimize its impact from the public side. The building has been built in natural stone which in itself provided a detailing challenge. The interior spaces are light and flow well and satisfy the accommodation needs. We were challenged to create a building that would  look good a hundred years from now.
