The Brief

Our clients wanted a house to downsize to. They built this house in the garden of their original Victorian house. Additional requirements were for a traditional exterior and more contemporary interior which maximized the panoramic views. 

The Challenge

The challenges in this project were to orientate the house on the very small  site and to maximize the views from the living spaces. The solution was to locate all the living space on the first floor with the guest bedroom accommodation on the ground floor. The result was a living, kitchen, dining room which has 360 degree views. The open space results in a room to live, eat and work in which is tracked by the sun all day long. Externally it is loosely designed in the Arts and Crafts and Scottish Vernacular style. Internally it is detailed in a more contemporary style.
