Marshall Gowland Manor
We have a combined experience of many types of health care buildings from care homes, palliative care, sheltered housing, hospices, homes for the elderly, children's homes, and alternative medicine facilities.
We believe that buildings can have a huge impact on a person's health and wellbeing and this is particularly true of more vulnerable members of society.
Our design approach to health care addresses the needs of all users, in conjunction to providing buildings that are uplifting, welcoming, filled with natural light, functional and efficient. The 126 bed New build Long term Care Facility is unobtrusive in the residential neighbourhood it is a part of.
Inside, there are four resident areas, each of which act as a self contained unit with living, dining, bathing and nursing facilities to compliment the bedrooms. One of the areas is allocated as an Alzheimers wing so is designed differently from the others. The home also has a day program area, large communal gathering space, hairdressing, worship area, family dining room and pub. The gardens are designed to encourage activities outside such as walking and gardening and have sitting areas located throughout them. The building uses techniques such as wayfinding, colour coding and use of colour and textures to promote a safe yet easy to navigate environment.
