PLANNING PERMISSION GRANTED: SEAFRONT VICTORIAN VILLA

By 28th November 2024

The new owners of this B-listed detached Victorian villa in an Ayrshire coastal town wish to renew and reconfigure their house. The plans, including adding an extension, aim to significantly improve the standard of living it offers while retaining its historic charm.

Our design includes creating an extension to house a large kitchen to the rear, featuring an open-plan layout with a convivial dining area as well as a relaxed day-room space with fireplace. This will be the hub of the house, in contrast to the retained formal lounge and dining spaces at the front of the property.

A 3-metre extension into the garden and running the length of the house – to house the new kitchen area – will provide an open aspect to the garden, allowing a much more cohesive feel between inside and out.

The existing kitchen will be split to provide substantial utility and pantry rooms, ensuring the new kitchen is free of clutter, with plenty of open space to enable a feeling of airiness. This will be enhanced by the generous windows letting in plentiful feel-good natural light.
