Our architecture in Argyll and Bute somewhat mirrors that in the Highlands and Islands, covering rural homes, farm developments, new builds and conservation and extension and refurbishment work on historic buildings.
One stand-out project in this area is our architectural design of a public industrial hub – Bute Yard – on the isle of Bute. Our design responds to nearby historic architectural diversity by creating buildings that offer buzz, melding modern social needs with creative architecture within the form of commercial design.
Projects such as this newbuild, built in the grounds of a historic property allow sensitive rural development in style, with the orientation maximising light and the exception lochside views. It encompasses one of our key aims in all projects – to carefully consider the unique style of neighbouring architecture and the area’s vernacular styles. We can then incorporate design motifs and ensure the new project does not deter from other attractive traditional architecture, but rather adds to the beauty of the area.
Argyll and Bute is also home to many traditional croft-style homes, which can be built new or renovated, bringing extra space, light, and warmth into older houses.
As with Scotland’s other rural regions, Argyll and Bute boasts many different architectural styles, all of which we have expertise in designing, as well as carefully renovating and extending where needed. This area is also popular with tourists, and we have taken on developments of rural cottages and hotel accommodation at various scales.
