Avenel, Plot 3

the project

In Plot 3 of the Avenel Development of 5 tradtitional houses, design architect Hugh Petter’s butterfly plan produced a house with exceptional internal light quality and flow from its central core of linking octagons. The substantial masonry structure and general feeling of tall and elegant space and solidity are very special.

How we worked

As Executive Architects on the Avenel Development, we had already established the general specification of these tradtional houses. The main challenges with this house were mainly to do with working through the geometry and ensuring that all of the details were resolved to a very high standard.

Success of the project

This house won the Herald ‘Best Luxury Family Home Award’ in 2011, was Highly Commended in the UK Property Awards, and was a finalist in the Scottish Home Awards in 2011.
